Surgery away from home, made simple
You don’t have to live in Miami to become a patient at Smart Plastic Surgery. A large share of our patients travel in from Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, and beyond — drawn by experienced, board-certified surgeons and accessible pricing. Our team coordinates every step, so the distance never gets in the way of your results.
Located in the heart of Kendall, our accredited facility is easy to reach from Miami International Airport, with trilingual patient coordinators (English, Spanish, and Portuguese) supporting you from the first message to your final follow-up.

Recovery & post-op care
Stay in Miami through your early recovery. Many plans include lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling and support healing.
Follow-up from home
After your in-person post-op clearance, remaining follow-ups can be handled virtually once you're back home.
How long should you stay in Miami?
Your surgeon clears you for travel at your first post-op check, so plan your stay around your procedure. These are general guidelines — your exact timeline is confirmed during your consultation.
-
Breast procedures
Incisions need time to settle and swelling to begin resolving before your surgeon confirms you're ready to fly.
Typical stay: 5–7 days
-
BBL / Liposuction (Lipo 360)
Early recovery has specific positioning and movement requirements, and extended sitting on a flight is limited at first.
Typical stay: 7–10 days
-
Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty involves a longer early recovery, with drains and limited mobility in the first days after surgery.
Typical stay: 10–14 days
-
Mommy Makeover
Combining multiple procedures in one session means recovery is staged, so the timeline runs longer than any single procedure.
Typical stay: ~14 days
-
Facial procedures
Swelling and bruising peak in the first days and need to subside before your post-op check and travel clearance.
Typical stay: 7–10 days

Traveling patient FAQ
Can I have my consultation if I live out of state?
Yes. If you’re outside Miami, your initial consultation is done virtually. You’ll speak with our team, share photos and goals, and receive a personalized treatment plan and itemized quote before you ever travel.
How long do I need to stay in Miami?
It depends on the procedure. Most patients stay 7 to 14 days so the surgeon can clear you for travel at your first post-op check. Body procedures like a tummy tuck or mommy makeover are on the longer end; breast and smaller procedures are shorter. Your surgeon confirms your exact timeline.
Do you help with hotels and transportation?
Yes. Our patient coordinators help arrange accommodations, transportation, and post-operative recovery support so you can focus on healing while you’re here.
Is it safe to fly after surgery?
Your surgeon will tell you when it’s safe to fly, based on your procedure and recovery. Flying too soon after surgery carries risks, which is why we schedule your return travel around your first post-op clearance.
I'm an international patient — what do I need?
U.S. patients need no special documents. International patients need a valid passport and visa to enter the U.S. Our coordinators, who speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese, guide you through the process.
What about follow-up after I go home?
After your in-person post-op checks in Miami, remaining follow-ups can be handled virtually. We stay connected with you throughout your recovery, wherever you are.
